Old Woods Tree Bark
SOLDOld Woods tree bark pipes are inspired by the very old trees along the Fowey River in Golitha Falls on Bodmin Moor, where I live. These particular trees all have preservation tags. This pipe is modelled after a peculiar tree with strangely shaped limbs and trunk. I chose a block with a rough, undulating plateaux to better capture the twisted, bent appearance of the old tree. The bowl and shank have been shaped entirely with rotary burrs and hand files. Also of note is the craggy rim, giving extra character to the overall theme of age. My signature tree bark texture is, as always, a tactile experience that you will not find elsewhere in pipe finishes.
